This is the end of the "Blog for everyone" section. I've decided to streamline the blog and only incorporate personal stuff, original material and stuff that matters to be personally. There will no longer be room for rehashing the old links from Reddit and recycling memes here.

Unless you've spent the last 20 years living under a rock, you're familiar with one of my childhood heroes. It's been 26 years since the intrepid child and his feisty feline companion started their adventures in 1985. Creator Bill Watterson put an end to the mischievous duo in the last days of 1995. 

The comic was filled with life situations, family laughs, political gaffs and satire. If you've ever wondered what the duo might be up to today, 15 years since they'd stopped entertaining us on paper, you're not alone. Comic artist Dan and Tom Heyerman (Click here for bios) of Pants are Overrated comics, imagined what Calvin & Hobbes would be today. To bring you up to speed, Calvin's already married Susie and they've had a daughter...Bacon.

Recent announcement of the Tennessee education bill denying teachers the right to use the word "gay" in classrooms has George Takei crying "homophobia". The best part about it though, is that Takei is not just another cry-baby, he's an activist! Sorta.

Pidjin.net have released an Easter Special cartoon that's sure to offend at least a few folks in the world's religious circles... So I figured I might as well post about it. I can't see this causing too much trouble; it's only suggesting that the second coming of Jesus was in the form of Hitler... hmmmm

I post this as both a poke at the religious readers who will be slightly offended by a funny online cartoon, which makes me giggle slightly, but also as a thought experiment. As a religious-minded individual, would your savior returning as an incredibly evil figure change your mind about your religious views? Does a religion only stand until one of the sacred characters is found to be flawed?

The feeling of accomplishment, the overwhelming moment just before you sigh and say good riddance to the paper forever!

Then it happened... That little wheel of death... the moment where you realize it's all gone wrong and nothing is going to save!

It doesn't take much to get people riled up in the town of Waco, Texas. Frankly I bet I could cause mass rioting with my Facebook status updates alone. Recently, your childhood hero, Bill Nye "The Science Guy" (What could possibly go wrong with a moniker like that surrounded by religious nutters) was the subject of boo-ing. 
What, you might ask, could Bill Nye ever do to offend the citizens of Waco? Did he mention evolution? Did he try to teach them a complicated scientific notion that contradicted some of the Bible's teachings? Well, in a way, yes.

Mr Nye, nay Dr. Nye, accidentally informed his audience that the moon doesn't emit light. Yup! Apparently the Bible is pretty adamant about this and the people were "visibly angered by what some perceived as irreverence," according to the Waco Tribune.

So what is it that the Bible says about the moon? Well, Genesis 1:16, reads: "God made two great lights -- the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars." So there you have it, the moon mustn't be a reflector, but a shinning orb all it's own.

I'll pause here to give you a moment to remove your palm from your face. 

I know that Dr. Nye is trying to pull the south forward to at least a 4th grader knowledge, and we appreciate the gesture, but I've got to ask: "Bill, could you stop wasting your brilliance on these Red-Neck nut-jobs and come chill in Canada for a while. We won't argue about the moon; we'll even sing your theme-song for you...
Try and stop us!

Watching Canadian Tire commercials it might strike you; watching Molson Canadian commercials it'll hit you like a ton of bricks; "Am I even Canadian!?"

It seems, more and more, we value the old-fashioned Canadian ways, but are we still upholding them? It's no surprise that we've been Americanizing our culture for decades, and that's alright in it's own ways, but isn't it time we start reminding ourselves of our roots. We are the Great White North, despite being geographically as far south as norther California. We still have the rights to the cultural history of Canada as a whole. 

So this is just a reminder to Canadians everywhere to hit the cottages hard this year. Don't go all Jersey Shore on your vacations. As we thaw out from a long and miserable winter, it's up to you to be Canadian at it's best!

Not exactly a sentiment synonymous with Québec culture, but Montréal-based band, Arcade Fire, is urging Canadians to vote! (Just not for Harper.) The band has taken on a political appeal lately and have posted on their official blog (@ arcadefire.com) that they believe strongly in the Canadian political system. They aren't necessarily endorsing any particular political party, but they are encouraging voters to think twice about casting a ballot for Harper.

The blog has since been removed, but it contained many links to News stories bashing the Harper Government in different ways. The band has not apologized for the blog entry and stands by what was written. They have extended the courtesy of removing the post, but that may have been on the advice of their PR department.

Cheers to Canadians. Even as musicians or celebrities, politics and Canadianna matters.
