Recipes for success...

So I realized a few times now that I have a strange diet. My friends and I have a habit of making meals entirely out of awesome... here are a few of my favourites (or at least the ones I took pics of...)

The "OMG it's a Party in my Mouth" burger!

Picture
This is easily the best burger I've ever eaten...and I'm a fat kid trapped in a skinny kid's body. There's really no "recipe" here, it more just an ingredients list for an exquisite flavour rush.
  • Colby Jack cheese sliced VERY thin and grilled to melt ON the burger
  • Fried mushrooms and onions
  • Sun-dried tomatoes lightly pan-seared in olive oil and oregano
  • Honey Mustard -Ketchup -Relish (sweet)
  • Pickles -Tomato (sliced thinly)
All stacked on a lightly toasted bun

TOFU; It's not just for hippies anymore!

When visiting Guelph (yeh I know that's not a good start for the "we're not hippies" argument) we decided to opt for the home-cooked approach. Apparently when you sit three creative people, who are cultured and not picky at all, around a table, you get interesting results.

The dishes:
  1. Pan fried extra-firm tofu in Cajun style spice over leafy green romaine lettuce, topped with a light vinaigrette and freshly diced mushrooms and green peppers.
  2. Pesto Penne Pasta with lightly seasoned tofu fried in mushrooms and olive oil.
  3. As hors d'oeuvres, fiddleheads fried in butter and black pepper.

All served alongside a wonderful French redwine from "Petit Bistro"

"Fish and chip" à la rouge...         .

We all love a good fish and chip, but what to do when you're on a diet and want something a little healthier. You'd be surprised just how easy it is to make a protein-rich substitute.
  • Pan-fried pacific salmon with a bourbon glaze and Montreal steak spice.
  • Steamed garden veggies with black pepper and rosemary
  • Crinkle cut sweet-potato fries
  • Cucumber chunks soaked in your favorite vinaigrette
Sound delicious? That's because it is, and best off it's actually quite healthy and pairs well with a light red-wine.

So that's it for my random meals. These are all real easy to make and are relatively cheap and healthy.
Hope I've inspired you to make something creative, because we don't have to eat boring...use your imagination!

Cheers to great food and the little bit of effort it takes to make it,
-D-
