No one is up in arms? Are you feeling alright America?

It's amazing how some little things can trigger giant uproars... and yet sometimes the complete opposite happens. Sometimes blatantly obvious pokes at the status quo have so little effect on the general populous that it begs questions to be asked. This week's episode of the famed Medical Drama House featured a line that was sure to get the typical American viewer. When Gregory House mentions that he's an Atheist, the characters do not show surprise, but it's more interesting that the evangelical left (the ones who'll have an aneurysm at the sight of a Harry Potter novel) haven't really made a stink.

It will be interesting to see where this goes, and whether it goes anywhere at all... but it may just be the fact that House's viewers are a more evolved audience with higher tolerances and more science-minded opinions.

House isn't even alone, it's not terribly uncommon for characters to be declaring themselves openly atheist. For example, Brian from the animated series Family Guy is a avowed atheist...and even in the real world people are becoming more comfortable expressing their lack of religious conviction. More an more this trend of social acceptability is placing atheists in 2011 where the LGBT (Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) movement was in the late 1900s. This week Ricky Gervais joked satirically with other winners of Golden Globes when he declared:“I’d like to thank god for making me an atheist," the rest of the moderate world couldn't have said it better.

Cheers to the mainstream finally accepting reality and not rehashing the same Southern rubbish Fox is famous for.
