Is this the end of the Poe Toaster?

Picture
Every January 19th, the anniversary of Edgar Allan Poe's birth, since 1949 a figure dressed entirely in black would visit the grave of the famed American horror writer. For the second year in a row the man in black failed to show and deposit the 3 blood-red roses and bottle of French Cognac on the grave site...

The character would come annually, as if from the pages of a Poe story, dressed in black with his face hidden under the brim of a fedora. The character would deposit his good and then slip softly, silently into the night...

Cheers to all of life's mysteries,
